Month 6 Cinch Update!

Six months ago, I had a hope, a dream, and a way to carry it out. Using Shaklee’s Cinch Inch Loss Program along with 49 other female bloggers on Team Cinchspiration, I would transform my eating habits and as a result, my weight would go down, my clothes would feel looser, and I would be a happier person.

I was at my father-in-law’s wedding when I got the news, this chance to change the course I was on, a direction that was taking me toward misery and poor health. I had never felt so uncomfortable in my own skin and I was desperate for a way to look and feel better.

In Month One, I lost 9.6 lbs. and 5 inches.

Month Two took another 4.8 lbs. and 4.25 inches from my body.

I lost another 9 lbs. and 1.6 inches in Month Three.

In Month Four, another 5.6 lbs. — Gone!

And last month, Month Five, I reported an additional 4.8 lbs. and 1.5 inches had bit the dust.

Today, I’m going to share my results for the sixth and final month of my Cinchspiration progress. But first, I want to tell you how I’m feeling. My goal was to lose 50 lbs. in six months and you’re about to see if I did that. It’s important to know if I did or didn’t, but I want to stress that I do feel good. I’ve accomplished quite a bit in regards to changing the way that I eat and why I eat. A year ago, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you everything that I ate in a day. I snacked, I binged, I stuffed my face with anything and everything available. Today, by limiting the availability of bad-for-me treats and filling my body with the food I need to feel satisfied, I can show you exactly what I ate and I won’t be ashamed.

You’re just steps away from better fitness.

Try Fitbit now.

Do I still eat sugar and snack foods? Yes, I think everyone needs delicious treats from time to time, but I don’t crave them like I used to and I’ve been able to cut off that cycle of mindless eating. Cinch’s shakes and meal bars provide the perfect amount of protein to get me through the day so that I don’t feel ravenously hungry for dinner.

Do I eat a perfect combination of fruits/veggies/proteins/whole grains every single day? No, but I eat in a way that feels right and satisfies my hunger without going overboard. Passing up a Sunday morning doughnut at church each week is tough, but my Cinch meal bar that I dutifully tuck into my purse keeps me from throwing away all of my progress.

I can’t tell you that I am working out 2 or more hours a day, but I am more active and my energy levels are the best they’ve been in years. I feel stronger and healthier than I have in a very long time, and I owe it all to the Shaklee Cinch program.

So really, what are the totals?? :)

34.4 lbs. and 15 inches* lost in six months!

I didn’t quite meet my goal, but that’s okay, I don’t want to be done with this journey yet. I’m well on my way to being my best self. What’s with the weight gain this month? I’m chalking it up to two things:  A very good day when I weighed in last month and Thanksgiving (darn you, stuffing and potatoes!). I did have some downward changes in my measurements this month, so I think it all makes sense. Also, my BMI went from 32.2 to 27.8!

I’m thrilled with what I’ve accomplished and I’m so thankful to those of you who have stuck around for the whole experience with me. Don’t go away yet, though! A video wrap-up is here and I want you to keep close while I continue shedding these pounds and whittling away at my waistline (by the way, my waist is back, y’all!). I need your support and encouragement!

Thank you Shaklee and friends! I couldn’t have done it without you!

Month Five Cinch Update

It’s time for my latest Cinch update and I’ve got some good news to report!

After exactly five months using Shaklee’s Cinch Inch Loss plan and products, I am happy to share that I am officially down 34.4 lbs*!

It has been another busy month at our house (with no signs of slowing down), but that has thankfully translated into this month’s additional 4.8 lb. loss!

Here’s a photo comparing a side view from June and today:

I’m still struggling to be as active as I should be, even with the addition of Dance Central 3 for Kinect to our home, and I’m sure I would have more inch loss to report had I reached and gone above and beyond my fitness goals for the month. I’ll be taking my own advice about dealing with holiday eating to make sure I don’t slip back into unhealthy habits during Thanksgiving and Christmas meals!

Team Cinchspiration has one more month to go! Make sure you’re following all of the team members and rooting them on!

What’s your biggest challenge when trying to stick to your weight loss goals during the holidays?

Month 4 Video Update!

It’s time for my video update after four months on Cinch! Take a look and be sure to read yesterday’s post!

I erroneously stated that I have 15 lbs. left to lose to reach my goal. Actually I have 20!

And also? WOW I look tired. I should not record these things so close to bedtime.

Month Four Update

I’m four months into my six month weight loss journey on Shaklee’s Cinch program! Starting out, my goal was to lose 50 lbs. I’m excited to give my weight loss update after four months! Drumroll please!

A typical day for me now after four months looks like this:  a Cinch meal bar and coffee for breakfast, no lunch (100 cal mini bag of popcorn for snack), a sensible dinner, and a snack in the evening after my boys go to bed. I have to admit that I’m not keeping track of my calorie consumption as closely as I should. Though I don’t feel like I’m going over them, I know how easy it is for those portion sizes to accidentally get larger.

Unfortunately, the biggest area where I’m struggling is regularly making time for exercise. (More on this in my Month 4 video!) I find so many things to do instead of going for a walk or working out at home. I’m a stay at home mom with two little boys and it’s hard to take them to do any exercise (they’re heavy, pushing them in the double jogging stroller is miserable), I don’t want to deal with tripping all over them while I do an exercise game or video in the living room, and I honestly just don’t want to give up my free time while they are napping in the afternoon. And then I don’t want to get sweaty and have to take two showers if I don’t get a chance to exercise until later in the day. But I know — I’ve got to make better choices and I’ve got to do it now. I need some motivation! Please, inspire me!

The good thing is that I have lost weight, 30 lbs., with 20 to go. My BMI has dropped by 5 and I’m on the verge of going down another pant size. I think I can do it by next month if I really commit to moving more.

What are your tips for finding the balance of getting in activity without wearing yourself out too much? Tell me in the comments!

Month 3 – The Halfway Point!

Wow! It’s been three months already on Cinch and I have exciting stuff to report!

At the end of last month, I was down 14.4 lbs. As of 9/19/12 (3 months and 1 day since I started the Cinch program), I am down 23.4 lbs*! My goal is to lost 50 lbs. in six months, so I’m averaging right at 2 lbs. per week, which is exactly what I want to be doing. I only lost 1.6 total inches this month, bringing my total to 10.85 inches lost.

Honestly, I know I could have done more exercise this month, and that’s why I’m committed to doing more in Month 4.  I recently won an Xbox 360 Kinect and purchased a fitness game, The Biggest Loser challenge game. I’m surprised by how good of a workout it is!

I can tell you that I’m feeling so much more comfortable in my clothes! I bought a new pair of jeans before BlogHer and they’re nice and loose now. Luckily for me, I have plenty of smaller clothes in my closet, begging to be worn again, and I’m thrilled to be able to do so.

This month, my video focuses on choices. Watch it here!

It really is getting easier to make better choices for my health. When you can see the results, it encourages you to continue doing what it is that helped you get there.

How do you stay motivated to make good choices?
