Sprout Organic Foods has Yogurt Smoothies for Big Kids!

Yogurt is one of those foods with so many benefits, for kids and adults. It’s one of the first foods you can give to an infant, even adults love it for its digestive benefits, and it’s also a great vehicle for getting your kids to eat their fruits and veggies.

photo 2 (5) For many years, there haven’t been any great options for bigger kids (bigger than toddlers) whose parents want them to have yogurt. A lot of the options out there have loads of sugar, pretty much canceling out any health benefits they might have. Sprout Organic Foods, makers of baby and toddler food, snacks, and purees, now has an organic yogurt option for bigger kids!

Sprout Smash yogurt smoothies are a delicious, organic way for kids to get vital nutrients in a yummy way! The packaging has a built-in straw, so when you send them in your kids’ lunchbox for school, there’s no need to pack a spoon and worry about them losing it (not that my kids have thrown away our spoons or anything…). Here’s their lineup of products:

Veggie & Fruit Smash Smoothies

Butternut Squash & Grape

Carrot & Orange

Pumpkin & Strawberry

Coconut Milk Smash Smoothies

Banana & Berry

Cherry & Apple

Peach & Banana

Greek Yogurt Smash Smoothies

Acai & Berry

Blueberry & Blackcurrant

Strawberry & Cherry

Sprout Organic Foods sent me one of each variety, and we got these yummy flavors:  Butternut Squash & Grape, Peach & Banana, and Strawberry & Cherry. I sat down with Miles, my 5 year old taste tester, and we sampled them together.

He was pretty excited.

I have to start by saying that he wasn’t really keen on the delivery system, but that’s just because it’s new for him. I think it was a shock to him when it was thick, not just a thin liquid, like juice. When I realized he wasn’t digging drinking it through the straw just yet, I put it on a spoon and he tried it that way — bingo, that was a winner!

We both decided that Strawberry & Cherry Greek Yogurt was our favorite! Delicious!

Here’s why I love these:

  • It’s tough to find something that’s tasty and healthy that kids will actually eat, and these definitely are all three!
  • You actually know what the ingredients are! Take a look at the ingredients in my favorite flavor, Strawberry & Cherry:Ingredients:  Organic Apples, Organic Nonfat Greek Yogurt (organic cultured skim milk, organic nonfat dry milk), Organic Bananas, Organic Strawberries, Organic Dark Sweet Cherries, Organic Apple Juice Concentrate,  Organic Strawberry Flavor, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). Contains: Milk
  • They’re great for lunchboxes or snacks on the go! Before they’re opened, they can be stored at room temperature, so you don’t need to be wary of sending them in a lunchbox that may or may not actually be at a safe temperature before your child actually gets around to eating it. They’re also resealable, so smaller appetites can have a little at a time (within a 24 hour period).
  • They’re totally healthy! Sprout recipes are made with certified organic ingredients and contain no preservatives, artificial colors, flavors or other additives.

They’re available in at least six online retailers and Sprout’s store locator on their website makes it easy to track down their products in your local area! I was pleased to see that all of our local super-groceries (Kroger, Walmart, etc.) carry Sprout products! They’re sold in packs of five, which is super-smart, because we pack lunch five days a week! Amazon offers Sprout products in Subscribe & Save, so you can make sure you always have it!

Check out all of the Sprout Organic Foods products online and let your kids experience these delicious smoothies!
