Reclaiming My Style

It’s been a little while since I have felt stylish or seen myself as a fashionable person. Every once in a while, I would discover something that had a perfect fit. I remember a great pair of 1969 wide leg jeans I found at the gap a few years ago and when I wore them I felt so confident. Now, I have a couple of pieces that I really feel fit my personal style and my body well. While most of my clothes are cute, it’s hard find pieces in my size (plus) that fit into my vision of what I want to project.

Words I would use to describe my style would be tailored, soft, Β clean, crisp, warm, and modern classic. One of my favorite shows right now is Mad Men, and a big part of that is because I love the clothes! And I love the character Joan Harris’s style. πŸ™‚ I love the style of this particular character because she highlights the things that set her apart (curves and red hair, of course!) and does it in a classy and grown-up way.

I love wide leg pants with a freshly pressed seam running up the leg. I love shirts that are crisp and cinched in all the right places. I love dresses and blouses with sweet airy details and whimsical touches that bring a hint of femininity to an outfit. (Put a bird on it!) AnthropologieΒ is one of my favorite stores ever but I’ve never been able to fit in their clothes, let alone afford them! πŸ™‚

Well, just the other day I happily stumbled upon two really great stores online. One is a site called eshakti.com, which offers Anthropologie style pieces that are more affordable and can be custom fit. Here are are few of my favorites:

The other site I found was EloquIii.com, which is a plus size line by The Limited. I love that their clothing has a little more structure and style than most plus size brands. This would be a great place to find clothes for every day wear. Here are a couple of my favorites from them:

I’m ready to start reclaiming my style again. I’m ready to make time for getting ready in the mornings. I’m ready to find clothes that make me feel beautiful and confident. Good bye lady who just cranked out three babies in two years and hello Jamie, the girl I once knew and the woman I can’t wait to meet!
