It’s been a crazy couple of days around here! I managed to get a post out on Monday, but I’ve been fairly quiet on Facebook and I wanted to explain why. (No need to brace yourself, it’s not a big announcement or anything.)
I’ve never had problems with summer colds before this year but man, they’ve really gotten me down this year! This is probably my third cold of the summer and they make me completely miserable for days. I’m finally coming off of this one, so expect to hear more from me now.
Another reason things have been crazy is that we finally got Spencer interested in POTTY TRAINING! Or rather, he decided he was going to do it and we’d better follow his lead. Last week I started getting all of his cloth diapers together to sell and bought him some new thick cotton underwear to start the training process. As I mentioned the other day, we had a few false starts where it was just too chaotic to really follow through and clearly he wasn’t ready. After going all last week cleaning up puddles on the floor and never once peeing in the potty, he just woke up Monday morning and decided that was the day. He peed in the potty all day and never looked back! He’s doing so well and I’m one proud mama! Look for a post coming up soon with my favorite potty training tips.
And finally, the last reason I’ve been kind of scarce around here is that the first meeting of our local mom’s group was yesterday morning. That wouldn’t normally concern me or cause any extra stress BUT this year I stepped up to be the coordinator of the group! It used to be a MOPS group but this year we formed our own group, though it’s virtually identical to the old group except for the name. It was a lot of legwork to change things over and get things going, but I have a great steering team to help me and our first meeting was a success!
So what’s new with you? Has anyone else been potty training their kid this week? Sick in bed with a summer cold? Organizing and planning a mom’s group? Tell me what you’ve been doing lately!

I’ve been wondering what was up the the new moms-not-MOPS group! Glad it got off to a good start!
Thanks!
Yeah, it was just the right move for our group. I still love MOPS and our group is run pretty much identically, it’s just cheaper for our members and isn’t exclusive for moms of 4 yr olds and under.
