Summer, you have zapped me. I had all these plans for a productive summer and between the heat and our air conditioning going out in our home, I feel pretty lazy and out of it. I think I’ll mostly blame the heat pump compressor.
Somehow, I made it through three weeks home alone without my husband. The air conditioning didn’t go out until about an hour before he got home, for which I’m immensely grateful, but it was still a long three weeks. During that time, however, I started my Cinchspiration journey and got the boys sleeping soundly in the same room for the first time in about a year, so I guess it’s not a complete loss.
Exhausted By Heat
I don’t do well in the heat. Anyone else? And I don’t even live in Texas or any of the other super-hot states. I live in Kentucky, which is pretty in-the-middle when it comes to climate. I don’t enjoy the heat, it doesn’t invigorate me, I just want it to stop. I’ll be the first to admit my heat-related wimpiness.
Coming Up Next?
So here I find myself in pretty much the middle of our crazy summer. Next week I’ll be with my husband while he works at his second job, running a summer conference for teenagers and the boys will be at my parents’ house for five days. They are so stinking excited they can hardly stand it. They keep asking about going to “Grandma’s museum” (the children’s museum close to where they live) and luckily she has promised to take them during their visit. And guess what else happens next week? Jamie and I will also get to be together (at the summer conference) to spend some time working on blog stuff and getting ready for our big trip to BlogHer ’12!
My husband will be at church camp for a week after the conference ends and then we head to the beach with my parents, sister and her family, for our annual family vacation. Just three days after we return, I’ll be driving to Jamie’s house in Pennsylvania, crash for the night, and then getting up EARLY Wednesday morning to take the train into NYC for BlogHer!
I feel like there’s still so much to do! I need to order my business cards (which I won through a UPrinting.com giveaway – hooray for free things!), find some inexpensive clothes for the conference and parties, get all of my tech devices ready for the trip (moving photos off my phone onto a thumb drive, deleting unnecessary apps, etc.), and generally preparing myself for all of the awesome.
We haven’t been able to secure a full sponsorship for the conference, but if you want us to do any networking for you at BlogHer, please get in touch! Additionally, any bloggers, small business owners, and those of you in direct sales can purchase advertising on the blog, which would be a huge help to offset our expenses for the trip! You can save 30% on all ad spots by using the promo code: BLOGHER12 We’ll do a big sponsor shout-out for anyone who buys an ad! We would love to work with you to promote your business or blog!
