I don’t normally talk about my husband on the blog, mostly because I think he’d prefer that I leave him out of my little bloggy business, but he and our friend JR deserve a major shout-out for a big project they completed a few weeks ago.
We’ve had two small dogs for almost as long as we’ve been married. Two Jack Russell Terriers, Bauer and Mr. Monk, who are sweet but pretty wild. For 5 years, we’ve taken them outside to do their business on leashes, even when the boys were newborns and I was losing my mind with trying to figure out how to do everything at once. For a few years, after we moved to our current town, we rented a house with a fence, but it was a short chain-link fence that at least one of our dogs could have easily jumped over. Letting them out to run around was not much of an option, especially with two very small children inside.
Now that the boys are a little older (3 and nearly 2) and very much want to play outside, I have been determined to have a fenced-in backyard for them. When we were house-hunting earlier this year, this was high on our priorities list, but unfortunately we were unable to find a house that was perfect for us that also had a fence. We bought a house that is perfect for us in every way but was lacking a fence. We wanted a 6 foot privacy fence, but the covenant restrictions on our land allow us to have only a 4 foot chain link or split rail fence and to save money, my husband decided to do it himself instead of hiring professionals.
I took a lot of photos in the process, and instead of uploading them all here or putting them in an album, I made a one minute video so you can see it all come together!
Brandon and JR, thank you so much for your hard work putting up the fence! The boys love it, the dogs love it, and we are so grateful!
Mom and Dad, thank you for helping us with the money to get our fence!
It feels so good to be fenced in.
