Christmas Crashers

Christmas is a magical time of the year, isn’t it?  Especially when seen through your children’s eyes, everything seems brighter and more alive.  Snow makes everything sparkle, lights can transform a house or business, and Santa makes everyone eagerly anticipate Christmas morning.

But this year, there are many families who are struggling.  Instead of being excited about their children’s joy on Christmas, many moms and dads are heartbroken because they don’t know where the money will come from to bring magic to their kids.  Some families might even be wondering if they’ll have to choose between their own meal or a gift for their child.

To think that there are moms who regularly read our blog or are within our “reach” that might be unable to give their kids a special Christmas this year is heartbreaking.  Quite honestly, it’s unacceptable.  Everyone should be able to give their kids presents on Christmas morning.  We want to do something about it, but we need your help.  We know we’re not the biggest blog out there, but we’ve been inspired by the giving spirit of others.  We want to crash some Christmases 🙂

The Plan

We’re going to match families who need help (as many as we can!) with families who can provide help, in the form of gift cards to major retailers.

If you are struggling to make the money add up for Christmas this year, please send an email to with the subject “Crash My Christmas!”.  Please don’t feel the need to explain your situation.  All that matters to us is that you could use some help.  Please include your name and mailing address (which will be kept private and confidential) and which of these 3 retailers you prefer for the gift card:  Walmart, Target, or Toys R Us.  If none of those retailers are close to you, we will figure something out, don’t let that hold you back from submitting!  Please understand that we aren’t promising anything, but we’re going to do our best to help everyone that we can!

We’ll cover the first one, who’s next??

If you are able to, please donate.  Our plan is to send $50 gift cards to families who need assistance.  You might be close to needing help yourself, which is why we’re not putting a minimum amount on donations.  Give what you can, we’ll compile donations to meet needs.  To donate, please send an email to with the subject “I want to crash a Christmas!”  We will direct you from there.

If you can’t donate and don’t necessarily need assistance, please spread the word!  We would love to help as many families as we can, so please Tweet this and Facebook it like crazy!

We will be accepting submissions through Friday, December 9th at 11:59pm EST and will continue to accept donations until December 16th.  At that time, we will get all of the gift cards sent out so our families can do their shopping before Christmas.  Please continue to check back for updates – I’ll let you know where we stand on donations and submissions so you can help us match everyone up!

As I prepare to hit “Publish” I am scared, nervous, and excited.  I know we have awesome readers and you guys are going to make Christmas miracles happen for some wonderful families.  Thank you to those of you who encouraged me to do this! *deep breath…*

Latest Update:

Well, we made it!  After receiving several more donations yesterday, we were close to the mark and our anonymous donor stepped in to cover the difference.  Because of you, Christmas Crashers, we are giving 30 families a very merry Christmas!  Stay tuned for much more from us and hopefully from YOU!  We want to hear from you if you were on the giving OR receiving end of the Christmas Crashers project.  We’d love to hear what it meant to you to receive a gift card or to give money to another family.  All names will be kept private, but we’d love to pass along a message from you!  Please send a short note to!
