It’s time again for us to ask what you’re reading! Tell us what you’ve recently read or are currently reading – fiction, nonfiction, paper, or eBook?
Here’s what Krista recently read:
I like to escape into clean chick lit. Like a good romantic comedy, it’s nice to read a story about love and not feel dirty on the other side. “Save The Date” by Jenny B. Jones is no exception.
While at times the characters are a bit over the top (Lucy’s clumsiness borders on annoying), the message of the book resonated with me. The story deals with tough issues – regrets, lies, self-image, death, and letting go – but does so in a way that leaves you wanting more. I had trouble putting the book down between chapters because of the way the author has structured the novel and I finished it quickly because I wanted to know what would happen next.
The story’s kind-hearted and compassionate characters are easy to like, with quirky personalities. The main character must make several life-changing decisions and I found myself wondering what I would choose if in her shoes. There are no real “bad guys” in this story.
The spiritual themes in the book are beautifully integrated into Lucy’s story. It never felt like it was “too much” or overpowering the narrative. I closed the book feeling inspired to let go of some of my own insecurities and use my God-given talents to help others.
I love free books and I got this book for free from BookSneeze.com and their bloggers’ program. I was not required to like the book or write a rave review.
